I’m honoured to share that the Ambient Menu has won an award. Flinders University recognised it at the Alumni Award Night. This recognition not only highlights the importance of creating spaces where noise-sensitive people can find peace but also allows them to connect and enjoy social experiences without loud distractions.
The Flinders University Alumni Award Night celebrates the achievements of alumni, and I’m grateful to join those recognised. This award marks a significant personal milestone, while also underscoring the growing need for inclusive, quieter spaces in our communities.
I created the Ambient Menu with one clear goal: to help people find peaceful places where they can talk, relax, and enjoy their surroundings. Noise sensitivity affects many people, whether from sensory processing disorders, autism, hearing impairments, or simply a preference for quieter environments. Winning this award at the Flinders University Alumni Award Night has motivated me to continue expanding and improving the platform.
Furthermore, I’m thankful to everyone who has supported this journey—from contributors to users who find value in the platform. This recognition strengthens my commitment to making the world more accessible and inclusive for all.
In conclusion, I’d like to thank Flinders University for this honour. I look forward to seeing the Ambient Menu grow and continue helping more people in the future.
I was honoured to receive this award from the University where my journey started. From the research project that inspired the creation of the Ambient Menu to being a supervisor on the project, formal acknowledgement of the Ambient Menus’ purpose and value is very humbling.
People are noise sensitive for various reasons. Whether it be hard of hearing, neurodiverse, medical or psychological conditions, or simply personal preference. The Ambient Menu was created to help anyone who prefers connection over commotion, and conversation over buzz.
