When I read this in Fifty+ SA……..
“What is the vibe or feel you’re hoping to create at Willy’s?
We’re after a mature audience that appreciates a relaxed and comfortable environment to enjoy great wines, cocktails and nibbles”.
…..I knew I had to visit and I am glad that I did.

On our visit, we got to chat to the lovely manager Alan. An enthusiastic, easy to get along with host who delivered flawless service with on-point wine recommendations.

Perfect for:
This establishment is the perfect spot to gather and enjoy a selection from their extensive drink menu. Its convenient proximity to some fantastic restaurants makes it an excellent choice for pre or post-dinner drinks, a delightful date night, or a casual bite to eat. Remember that the ambience is best suited for intimate occasions, groups larger than four people would ruin the inviting atmosphere.

Food:
The limited menu features a range of light meals and snacks perfectly designed to complement their wide drinks selection. From a tempting cheese board and antipasto to a thin German pizza or your classic Chicken Sandwich, the culinary offerings cater to various preferences.

Music:
Soft jazz melodies fill the air, and despite the absence of acoustic treatments, the plush furnishings along the walls help muffle some of the ambient noise. For those seeking a livelier experience, live jazz performances every Sunday afternoon add a touch of vibrancy to the atmosphere.

Alan’s Insights:
If you’re fortunate enough to visit when Alan is overseeing operations, expect a more subdued musical backdrop, as he strives to cultivate a relaxed atmosphere. Conversely, the other manager opts for a livelier atmosphere, making it advisable to call ahead for a preview of the prevailing vibe. As it hasn’t been acoustically treated the space is susceptible to disruption by large or boisterous groups. He also advises awareness of potential noise levels, especially if a group of lively ladies is enjoying lunch.

For an optimal experience, Alan recommends outdoor seating. Positioned away from the main thoroughfare, the side street seating offers a quieter setting, shielded from direct sunlight to ensure a comfortably cool experience.
