I popped in for a quick veggie meal to check out this Gouger St restaurant. Next weekend we have a meal planned with three people with origins in Shanghai, and I wanted to ensure low noise before our meal / chat.

First impressions were good – subdued lighting, attractive dark decor and friendly staff. The menu is in English & Chinese. Perhaps unusually, the restuarant quickly filled with ‘ older westerner couples’ rather than the normal Gouger St younger, ‘ethnic Asian’ diners. So, it must be accessible to all, which is a good thing.

However, I soon felt disapointment when the lively, jazz, instrumental music started impacting my defective hearing! The music was trendy and upbeat, but unfortuantely not background enough for my liking.

Food wise was simple, a quick tasty green beans with chili sauce, steamed rice and jasmine tea. In-and-out in 25 minutes.

I would return if it was not for the music (Grumpy old man reporting…)
