If you ever come to Hahndorf then check out the newly open restaurant and bar at Vine and Essen.

We ate:

+ Grass fed porterhouse salad with fries, vine and Essen sauce (8/10). The steak was cooked to perfection as we asked for medium rare and I loved the marinade on the steak. Their secret Essen sauce just made it better and it was addictive. The fries could have been a bit crispier. It was a bit pricy but at least the flavours were on point.
+ Poached barramundi with asparagus and champagne Berrue Blanc (10/10). I could not fault this dish. The poached barramundi with cooked perfectly and that champagne sauce so lovely, especially with the lemon. The asparagus had a nice bite to it. We really ate this dish up.
+ Gnocchi with puttanesca and Parmesan (9/10) was a bit too salty for me but otherwise the puttanesca sauce was full of flavour and that gnocchi was very soft like a cloud.
+ Creme brulee with fruit crostini (7/10). It needed more sugar on the top as there no crack and it did not have that burnt sugar taste. It was more like a plain custard but when put on the crostini you can taste the sweetness from the fruit.

Overall, restaurant rating: 9 out of 10 ✨✨✨✨. Vine and Essen is the newest addition to Hahndorf. It’s a beautiful venue with lovely service and lovely food. It is very spacious and easy to chat with friends. I really enjoyed my time here and I would come back even though their menu is a bit limited. It’s a perfect brunch or lunch spot. 💕💕💕
