ela Restaurant @velabrisbane is nestled in the vibrant West Village of Brisbane @westvillage_brisbane , a celebration of Thai cuisine that perfectly blends delicious eats with fun, comfort, and style😉

The menu was enticing, featured many mouthwatering dishes that had my eyes bigger than my stomach 😅 Standout highlights included (1) Crispy Whole Fish paired with Mango Salad 🎣 A dish where freshness meets perfection in every bite. The fish is deep-fried to golden perfection & served alongside sweet fish sauce & chili mango salad 🥗 (2) Crispy Eggplant is a must-try! 🤤 With its delicate crisp exterior & creamy interior that’s delightful to bite into, it’s simply irresistible 👍🏻 (3)Tom Yum Hotpot was spot on, loaded with umami goodness 🙌🏻❤️If red curry is your favorite, prepare to be hooked on their (4)Duck Curry 🦆 an exquisite blend of pineapple, lychee, basil, and roasted duck with the right amount of kick. (5) Thai Milk Tea Bingsoo offered a heavenly finish. The creaminess of Thai milk tea combined with fluffy shaved ice made for an unforgettable sweet ending.

Although the Chilli butter sauce was not to my personal taste, but the scallop’s freshness was undeniable and deserves recognition for its umami richness.👌🏻 Vegetarians will also find joy in the mixed mushroom stir-fry bursting with lovely basil & soy note. The presentation of the Mango Sticky Rice was stunning while tasted divine!

Loved their cocktail list 😍 The Angel Sister🍸 was a refreshing mix of vodka & apple liqueur lengthened with freshly squeezed lime juice & sugar syrup 💚 It paired perfectly with any dish on this flavorful journey at Vela.

In short, every visit to Vela ends on a high note of satisfaction. Whether you’re planning to celebrate a special occasion, catch up with friends, or simply indulge in an exceptional meal, Vela offers a welcoming and lively ambiance that enhances every moment.

WOW! We had a wonderful evening here. The food and drinks were excellent and authentic, the staff were attentive.

Let me tell you more

We were looking for a quiet spot to eat after a busy day at a conference and this place delivered. The food, the service, the ambience were all absolutely perfect!

The fit-out is absolutely gorgeous! We were so impressed the moment we walked in! A modern Thai restaurant offering a unique modern twist on classic flavours. The venue features a modern interior design with a day-and-night theme as you can see the moon 🌙 in the middle of the bar.

The food:
They serve up delicious Thai food with everything from small plates, small bites, grilled dishes/salads, moreish mains, banquets and noodles/rice.

We ate:
Corn Corn: Grilled sweet corn, coconut butter, shredded coconut, and parmesam cheese.
Pad Thai: noodle, peanut, garlic chive, bean sprout and egg with chicken and prawn.

The staff:
Were absolutely amazing and we were really well looked after. Already looking forward to coming back and trying the rest of their menu and signature cocktails!

Parking: There is free parking in West Village for 2 hours.

The Ambience:
They have put a lot of care and attention into the acoustics of this place.
Acoustic panelling in the roof to absorb excess noise. The panelling and the shape of it has been done to minimize interruption from other diners. We were in a more busy area, but we did not even hear the table next to us a metre away.
Many different areas to sit including booths. Larger groups are in one area, more intimate groups are in another.
A small note that makes a big difference: soft chair stoppers on the legs mean you don’t be bothered by the scraping of chairs of other diners.

Staff Hot Tip;
It can get busy on a Friday and Saturday night, it is a popular restaurant for good reason. Although they have never had any complaints from diners about the noise, if you are sound sensitive perhaps avoid these times.
