This was a surprising find, especially since I drive past every day and didn’t know it was here. I saw the sign on Fullarton Road and popped in.

This café is hidden underneath the Victoria Park heritage listed grandstand (entrance pictured).

The website states “Come rain, hail or sunshine, Velo is a casual, family friendly café, restaurant and event hire venue and a great place to relax on the fringe of Adelaide city”

But wait, there’s more! There is also Spokey Dokey, their custom-designed play café with a delicious, healthy kid-friendly café menu, also downstairs.

Breakfast from 9:30am until 2:30pm Tuesday to Friday
8:30am to 3:30pm on weekends
Separate Lunch menu starting from 11:30am.

Bring the kids bikes or scooter for a ride around the track while you enjoy a coffee. Indoor seating is in the café, outdoor seating at the café steps or in the grandstand. As a Mum I like the idea of kids riding around the track safely without Radelaides drivers nearby.

For access friendly option there is a lift for wheelchairs / strollers and walkers at the eastern end of the stand (the rear).

EAR BUD Q TIP
The minimalist furniture means acoustically it may be lively if it was packed… but I was there at lunch time in the school holidays and it was quiet… even in the play café. If it does get busy you have the option of sitting outside or in the grandstand for shelter 😉
