There are a surprisingly large number of different areas for dining, drinking or even playing within the Parkside Hotel. I counted at least nine ‘zones’ ranging from a very busy main bar high tables, to quiet carpeted dining. There are perhaps three outdoor areas including a kids playground. Consequently, the ambience varies depending on the number of people, decor and type of activity. The seem to have tried hard to cater for all tastes and ages.

We stopped in for a pub dinner before a nearby show.

My fish & chips was fine and good standard pub grub. My wife told me at least four times how much she enjoyed the lamb pie with mash, so it must have been good. Our dining room was a third full and was always quiet. The background music was tasteful and quiet.

The Parkside has a wide range of tap beers from Little Creatures, Coopers and others.

As far as hotel / pub venues are concerned, this one has to be up there.
