Back again!

I ordered omelette with vegetable (not on the menu) with oyster sauce and chilli on the side. This meal is more substantial than just veggies in sauce and tastier.
The others had
– curry puffs, chicken & sweetcorn soup
– fried rice with Singapore noodles & chicken in sesame sauce.
– mix veggies with beef

The traditional Crown Lager was ordered….

Yet again, families come to the Ocean Garden on Monday.

And remember please, the chef will cook less Westernised dishes on request.

It was surprising busy for a Monday evening. A large table with a happy family ensured that the noise level was higher than normal.

Ocean Garden offer a range of standard ‘Western style’ chinese dishes such as sweet & sour pork and black bean beef. The veggie options are limited but tasty.

Apparently Wednesday evenings are their quiet time, so maybe then next time.

Due to an unexpected visit from our son, we quickly booked our closest Chinese restuarant. We half expected it to be busy, as it was Mother’s Day.

Banquets were the only meals on offer. Unfortunately we ordered the cheapest ($36/person) which consisted of a curry puff and a spring roll with very sweet dipping sauce, two main courses – very sweet honey chicken and a sizzling shrimp served only with onions. Neither were to my taste.

The accompanying fried rice came our with a burnt smell, which was off putting to me at least.

I left before the ice cream desserts and did my best not to moan about lunch to the others!

Sorry to say that this visit was not good, which is maybe due to the larger than normal number of diners.

Ocean Garden is our local Chinese restaurant. As normal, no piped music was playing which is always a relief.

We booked for four, just in case it was busy (it is only very rarely). The food and drinks menu has hardly changed in 10 years as I think they know the meals that work.

However, the Szchezuan sauce has been made much hotter than previous visits, so I had to offer it to my friend and I ate something else. The waiter assured me that it is a popular dish, so my taste buds must be more sensitive these days.

This is the only restuarant I order Crown Lager and Mrs Wrigley’s rose!

A favourite local of ours. Haven’t been for a few years due to Covid. The waitress remembered my husband saying you always order Lemon Chicken(so true!). I had sizzling Mongolian beef and we shared some special fried rice. It’s a hidden gem right on the foreshore at Christie’s Beach. It’s carpeted so the noise level is reduced. We will keep going back
