Lunch for each of us consisted of exactly the same thing. An Imperial pint of Hazy IPA at a pricey $20 and the one and only sandwich on the menu (mozzeralla) at $19. Not my cheapest lunch but overall quiet due to lack of diners and no background music.

Lovely decor and just off Gouger St too. Classy and trendy.

Being a hotel restuarant and cafe, you might not think it worth a visit to the Hotel Indigo. However, our group of five ex work colleagues decided to meet here since I could vouch for it. The decor is modern and bright. Service is excellent.

The lunchtime menu is more like what you’d expect from an upmarket cafe and bar. At dinner, the Italian menu is used which is much more extensive.

Our group ordered ciabattas, club sandwiches or salad, which were all well presented and tasty. The meals were accompagnied with iced coffees and a bottle of Penfold Reisling.

Our group was able to chat with ease as any background noise was insignificant. You may be concerned that the hotel foot traffic might be a distraction. It was more like people watching from an outdoor restaurant, so was defintely not a distraction from my viewpoint.

In summary, if you want to try a trendy CBD restaurant handy for the tram and Gouger St, this might be the place.

We took advantage of the SA State Voucher scheme and Indigo Hotel’s $100 food & drink voucher, to spend one night at this new trendy hotel. The ground floor houses a modern Australian restaurant and bar, “Market & Meander”, which has multicultural influences from nearby Grote and Gouger Street. The elevator to the 16th Floor takes you to the rooftop for the bar & BBQ and “raw” food at “Merrymaker”.

We ate downstairs as Merrymaker was cold & windy and very noisy with an after work crowd. Market & Meander was not your typical hotel restaurant. Happy hour for cocktails, friendly staff and an excellent pasta and stuffed checken meant that we had a lovely short stay.

“Market & Meander” had only 10 people dining so it was quiet.

The hotel is also close to the tram line, so a car was not needed.
