    inally got to try Makan Wine Bar. Makan means ‘to eat’ in Malaysian but the restaurant identifies as modern South Eastern Asian flavours.

    We ordered a few small dishes and a couple of big dishes. The smaller dishes were very generous so we ordered just the right amount for the 4 of us. We only had a couple of mains but still had room for dessert. We couldn’t taste any Malaysian flavours in the dishes that we had. It was mostly Thai but I still enjoyed the dishes as it was cooked well and it had flavour. My favourites was the prawn doughnut, stuffed chicken wing gyoza and salmon betel leaves minus the betel leaves. Out of the bigger dishes I enjoyed the grilled rockling fish. The desserts were lovely but I enjoyed the mango with sago pudding more! The Mille-Feuillett didn’t have any flavour of the Kaya jam as it was overpowered by the strawberries and blueberries. It was still very nice though. It just didn’t have the Kaya flavour.

    I will come back again for when I can drink alcohol again but for now, I just had a mocktail that they made up for me, which was a watermelon mocktail but it tasted like lemon, lime and bitters. My friend had the lychee martini. Loved the cozy vibes here and it was popular for a Thursday night. If you love Paper Tiger then you will love this wine bar.
