ACCESS. FIVE ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Reviewed by @accessible_adelaide: On checking in to The Playford, I noticed the restaurant was located down a flight of stairs, and had booked dinner for myself, and a friend that evening. Staff were incredibly accommodating, however, guiding me to an external, North Terrace entrance, I could access in my wheelchair. Opening doors for me, and showing us to a lovely table, with a booth that was comfortable for me to sit in. Staff were incredibly attentive, even offering physical assistance when we were leaving. Bathroom facilities were located back upstairs, but, again, I could access by re-entering the hotel from the grand side entrance.

I recently had the sheer pleasure of a mini break at the luxurious Art Nouveau hotel; The Playford.

Below is an access review for the stunningly refurbished restaurant; Luma, downstairs! (More reviews of further hotel facilities to come!

    FOOD/BEVERAGE OPTIONS : 5 STAR ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
An absolutely magnificent menu, my friend and I shared scallops with creme fraiche, kingfish ‘tacos’ with a deliciously crispy waffle-type ‘taco’, lightly tempura battered broccolini, and a crusty, seeded warm roll, with a salted butter.

    Drinks were reasonably priced. Magnifico!

    AMBIENCE /STAFF: 5 STAR ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
As mentioned previously, staff were incredibly attentive, and accommodating. Acoustically, the venue is mild, so even as more patrons filled the restaurant and bar, volume level was never uncomfortable, nor overwhelming.

A beautiful experience, wonderful food, and fabulous service! Thank you @theplayford and @luma_restaurantandbar !! 🤍

Popped in for a drink before a function at casino.

Happy hour is 5-7pm weekdays with 20% off wine by the glass & tap beer.

Lovely ambience, soft chilled music and easy to converse.

    Cheers to that 🥂

I’d ‘heard’ good things about this place so we stopped in for a drink on our wedding anniversary. It exceeded our expectations.

We only wanted to stop in for one drink before we went back to our hotel but the musician playing, Jazmine was so good, we had to stay until she finished her performance. I can not speak highly enough about how wonderfully talented she is.

While we enjoyed her performance, we felt like we were being serenaded and we were the only ones in the place. Perfect for our anniversary. And when she wasn’t playing, the music that played in her break was at a comfortable level, rare to find on a Saturday night.

The atmosphere here is just lovely. The lighting is dim, but not too dim, an intimate ambience. The lighting across the ceiling is modern but also ties in with the old world charm of the hotel. Soft comfortable seating, well spaced tables so other conversations didn’t interfere with our chat or her performance. The food looked really good too!

The service was friendly and welcoming from the moment we stepped into the bar/restaurant. We were served by Charlie who was friendly and helpful. We didn’t know what we wanted, he recommended a blood orange gin, and it was perfect for the occasion. He also checked in regularly enough to make sure that we didn’t need a top up, but not so much that we felt harassed (like at some other places).

Relaxing or Romantic atmosphere depending on the company you’re with.

We will come back for a meal, but on a Saturday night when Jasmine is playing (FYI she plays here every fortnight on a Saturday night)

Mid week 4-9 can get quite lively with the after work crowd.
Charlie said Saturday night is probably one of their more ambient evenings

Decided on cocktails and bar food near the train station before going home. Very comfortable bar lounge seating. Bar food was good and canapes are free after 5. On this night it was a really nice blue cheese tartlet. The lighting was a little bright and would have been nicer a bit softer. It was fairly quiet but I felt that the music would really get to me if I was staying longer than an hour or so. I decided that I would come back for drinks but would not probably dine in for a longer meal.
