    Loud background music, Speakers placed close to dining areas, Open-plan seating without sound barriers, Open kitchen or bar area contributing to noise, Staff agreed to turn down the loudMusic but hardly made a change.

    Our group of six enjoyed a French Apero before the French Film
    Festival. A cheese and charcuterie board for 4 people was excellent. Pricey though at $215 as we most wines.

    I had booked an outdoors table to minimise background noise. However the weather was wet and windy so was not possible. I noticed and heard an outdoor loud speaker.

    Food great, decor great. Music loud.

    The name of the restaurant is a play on words. “Le pas sage” in French means the naughty one, but if you attach the two words together, you have passage.

    We arrived very early for a 5pm dinner prior to an early movie, so there were only two other diners. First impressions were of a French bistro theme (no surprises there!), and the two staff busy organising things for a Friday evening.

    Possibly due to lack of diners, the music was turned up higher. I explained to the friendly owner that we might need to sit outside – in the heat – as I could not tolerate the music due to my poor hearing. She offered to lower the music. Fixed in seconds.

    All wine options are French and reasonably priced for the most part. I treated myself to my favorite French Apero beer – Picon Biere – which is a bitter orange liqueur in draught lager. So good, I had two of them. My wife enjoyed a blanc de blanc from Burgandy, which is not from the Champagne region, so much cheaper and just as good.

    Dinners for our table of four people consisted of two each of:

    – Salade de chevre chaude which the menu states as ‘crottin de goats cheese with thyme and honey toast with burnt apples, speck and fig. It was well made and tasty, and much more filling than expected.

    – Filet mignon which unusually was based on pork tenderloin, onion confit, rosemary, goats cheese and asparagus. Fellow diners told me that it was excellent.

    (Another French double meaning ‘crottin’ is a type of cheese and also a animal ‘dropping’. Not to be confused)

    Le Pas Sage is not managed by the Accor Hotel Group in whose building it sits.

    This was a posiive first visit to a new French restaurant, albeit not a vegetarian’s first choice.
