If you are looking for delicious, authentic Indian food with attentive service, you have found the right place in Indian Club! Open for lunch Mon – Fri 11:30 – 2:30pm and Mon – Sun for dinner 5:00pm – 9:30pm.

We visited on a whim after an appointment at the nearby Uni and had the restaurant to ourselves. Very quiet with some pleasant music in the background. Large inside area with an outdoor entertaining area which would be great in summer.

But the definite highlight was the food. Our waitress answered any ordering questions and wasn’t shy in telling us what she would recommend. We ordered Pakoras, Veg Manchurian, Lamb Rogan Josh and Goat Masala with sides of plain naan and steamed rice. For dessert we shared the Pistachio Kulfi. After ordering we were given complimentary pappadums with the most flavourful coriander chutney I have ever tasted. Light and creamy, it made the pappadums a course on their own.

Every dish we tried was cooked with care and respect. The Pakoras had a delightful hum of spice which blended beautifully with the vegetables inside the crispy, crunchy coating. The Veg Manchurian did not disappoint with just enough zing to wake up the palate. If you are looking for a lamb dish where the meat fell apart as you brought it to your mouth, then go for the Lamb Rogan Josh.

For me, the Goat Masala was the highlight of the meal – soft and tender, medium spiced heat (the waitress asked what level we preferred) and totally mouthwatering. I have ordered goat before in other Indian restaurants and been served up lots of bones, but the Indian Club delivered on a dish with minimum bones but maximum flavour.

The other highlight which ran a close second, was the plain naan. So often you can get naan that is heavy. Not at the Indian Club! Their naan was crunchy and light and just perfect. I could go on and on about this piece of Tandoor excellence.

Dessert for me was a choice of Mango or Pistachio Kulfi. I went with the Pistachio as the creamy finish to my meal. Oh and it certainly did not disappoint in its pistachio flavour served with cream, strawberries and berry coulis. One bite and I was kind of upset that I was sharing and not gobbling down the entire dish myself.

Both main courses were generous with their meat content as often with Indian food there is a lot of sauce but not much content but not in this case. Portion sizes were spot on. Loads of thought given by the chefs to texture, flavour and presentation.

The head chef came out to speak to us at the end and asked how we enjoyed our meal which is always nice that they care about our thoughts.

Restaurant has wheelchair access on request with a access friendly toilet. The chef said the restaurant was generally busy on Fri, Sat and Sun dinner but early in the week was quiet. The tables are spaced generously apart.

Menu is quite extensive and vegetarians will rejoice in the number of selections available. There is a kids menu and options are clearly marked with allergen advice.

I look forward to returning to Indian Club to try other dishes as I found it hard to narrow down the selection – so much deliciousness on offer!
