For our 20th anniversary, we knew we couldn’t travel the world, but at least in Adelaide, we can still enjoy the worlds food!

The first stop was Greece, next stop was Germany at the Hahndorf Inn.

This was recommended to me by an Ambient Menu user. They said it had generous serves, great atmosphere. It is one of the few pubs in SA without pokies (I haven’t checked how rare that is yet), so they must rely on their food, service, beer and atmosphere to get people coming back. I can say I thoroughly enjoyed all 4 elements.

The pub itself is over 155 years old, family-owned, and specializes in traditional Bavarian food. We ate in the front casual bar area by the open fireplace, surrounded by exposed stone walls and under a wooden ceiling.

You can see from the serves that they were very generous. I don’t know how my son demolished this schnitzel, but it was delicious, and he inhaled it!

For those who like a challenge and aren’t scared of diabetes and gout, treat yourself to the Hahndorf Inn Meter and Litre – a meter of sausage and a litre of beer.

Although it was fully booked, we had no issues hearing the conversation across the table. The German music was at a level loud enough to take me back to Oktoberfest (and I thoroughly enjoyed reminiscing while having a pint of their tap beer). But not too loud to drown out our conversation.

We had a great night, and we will be back next time we’re in Hahndorf.

Great German food and large servings. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The Inn was full and the service was very good, given the amount of people. Good menu selection.
