A return trip to the place with excellent pizzas and better beer on tap.

We sat outside to the right of the entrance. No music playing, only the chatter of beach goers.

Kick Back Hazy IPA at 3.5% is a perfect brew for hot days.

My son booked an outside table as I asked him to try to find a quieter area.

Drifters was busy as it is a population Beach side location and it was a lovely summer’s evening. The restaurant was full inside and out with families and groups.

Our outside table prepared for us under a shaded area. Unfortunately the table was under the sole speaker. (Left of front door) Staff kindly turned it down but turned it up at 8pm.

The pizzas are the best I’ve ever had in Adelaide’s south. Delicious dough and tasty & interesting toppings. Importantly, there was not the normal to the edges and thick toppings. Instead, sufficient and appropriate unusual flavours.

To start:
– 3 raspberry gin & tonic
– 1 spiced rum

Pizzas
– It’s my Jam
– Smokin’ Pig
– Sea & Vines
– Fire Up (spicy)
All great!

Beers included my favourite ‘Kick Back Mid-Strength Pale Ale’.

Next time will be booked outside away from the the sole speaker.

As a fan of @kickbackbrewing – I had to go visit @drifterspizzabar which recently opened in Port Noarlunga.

Being a hot summer evening, the place was busy, and it was a bit noisy from some larger groups dining inside. I did have a sunny corner to myself so I could bask in the light of the sun setting and enjoy my pink lemonade selzer. (Glad I took the recommendation from the bar staff!!)

As for the pizza? WOW

I went with Heaven and Hearth – the vegan beauty with porcini dust (omg 😋) but added chevre cheese and this was truly divine. I was so happy to take the leftovers, because there was no way I was finishing this mega plate in one sitting.

I am a little sad to have not left space for dessert, because the special did sound pretty epic… I hope to come back soon enough that the brownie is still available and have it with a @dawnpatrolcoffee

There is enough little nooks inside and smaller tables outside that you can go solo and have an enjoyable experience.

This is definitely pizza that has evolved!
