Ended up in this hotel as the Transcontinental was full. I know…for a regional town, so good to see!
Don’t let appearances deter you because this is a quiet friendly, warm and inviting hotel.
The staff were so nice and service was good and quick.
As you would expect, the menu was typical pub food but delicious!
We always sample local delicacies when touring and so had the schnitzel topped with quandong sauce. Very nice!
In fact you can get quandong jam, sauce etc everywhere in the Flinders area.
Very easy to converse with others in the dining room. I would say low to quiet.

Across the road from the other big hotel in Quorn. We tried the Austral the evening before the Transcontinental. This is another historic hotel on the main drag.

The interior is not as well decorated as it’s neighbour, but the front bar has the charm of an old country pub with some local characters propping up the bar.

The dining room food was fine and wholesome and good value. A welcome spot after a 6 hours drive from Adelaide. I cannot impagine that the dining room is ever noisy due to its layout.
