I see that last year, I was shown as the “Listing Owner”. This is a mistake as I am a only a visitor to this popular summertime only venue.

Sandbar opened for a new season on Friday 1st December with the same operator as last year. Same recipe for success but improved.

– 6 tap beers.
– other interesting alcoholic beverages on tap.
– Seaside Spit (Beach Rd business) with a large spit turing in the bar.
– Stronger links with other nearby food businesses – Flava, Beach Road Pizza, Cheffy Chelby’s.
– A mention for Beach Road traders including @theespybakehouse @districtb5165 @yankeesburgerbar CJ’s Bakery @fumblestiltskin_bakehouse Champion Takeaway and more.
– “Tasteful” acoustic music at a volume permitting easy chatting in any bar area a short distance from the speakers.
– Friendly staff.

Too bad a strong gust of wind blew a glass of red wine all over my wife’s white jacket! We stayed anyway….

Sandbar is a good recipie for all ages.

Sandbar is back for two months again (Dec-Jan). They have live music most evenings and recordered music at other times. If you want a quieter spot, it’s easy to avoid either by moving to the edges of this long outdoors venue.

Cooked food can be ordered via QR codes on the tables from nearby Flava or La Trattoria.

They have an intereting selection of draught beers and cocktails on tap.

Good beachside ‘vibes’ for all the family in good weather.

This temporary summer-only bar has been opened for the last three years from early December to early February (approximately). Council permission might extend this period in future years.
It is a very informal venue attracting locals, beach-goers , the older and younger crowd alike. It has great views of the beach and the bluff.
The bar keeps things interesting by changing the local craft brewer each week. Each week three beers are available on draft as well as one “cocktail”.
Food is readily available from Flava across the road using a QR code to order while still in the bar. Mutual support.
On hot summer evenings the place becomes livelier, but thankfully to those audibly challenged, the musos volume is never high. Concerns expressed by locals in the facing appartments ensure the venue closes by 11pm and never is too noisy.
