We decided not to come to Nanya Bistro for dinner as the online menu made it look very pub like and put us off. However when we came for breakfast the next morning we very much regretted we had not tried it for dinner. The ambience of this place was just what I love carpettd , upholstered furniture, and tasteful music made for low noise and very intimate ambience. The breakfast choices were good and varied and well executed. Next time we are in Renmark we will definitely try for dinner.

First impressions of the Hotel Renmark were of an art deco exterior and of an old established country pub. This large unique community owned hotel caters for all tastes.

The front of the restaurant was undergoing renovations to provide outdoor dining areas. The plans look good, but the work-in-progress detracted from our stay.

The restaurant area is new and very spacious. I hope they add wall art works to cover up the acres of white. Like many Aussie pubs, dining areas are a bit like fancy canteens with alcohol.

I reckon that the serving of ‘House made pappardelle pasta with roast pumpkin, pine nut and feta’ was the best vegetarian pasta I have ever eaten! It was delicious. My wife’s half-sized Panko crumbed chicken schnitzel, chips and salad’ was in a way what you’d expect from a country pub, but was well presented and tasty.

The dining room was fairly full for Sunday dinner and was not too noisy.

Oh, and the Riverland wine was really cheap compared to Adelaide prices.

If we visit again, I look forward to the improvements.
