I had waited a long time for this meal at the Two Pot Screamer. Prior to this dinner, I carried out a personal, short poll of Adelaideans to see if they knew the meaning of the restaurant’s name. It has amused me since it opened in December 2021. (I learned the meaning due to frequent interstate trips.)

To my surprise, only folk from Sydney or Melbourne know that it means (in Australian colloquial) “One who becomes talkative or rowdy after consuming a relatively small amount of alcohol”.

Now more importantly, the meal. We arrived very early at 5-30pm, so the place empty. A very amusing and helpful staff member immediately reduced the music at the request of my wife. It was then perfect for a good conversation over the table, but understandably the space become nosier when 25 others arrived after 6pm.

All staff seem very happy and motivated.

Basically, the food was excellent! The chef invented unusual and delicious combinations that I had never come across elsewhere. We shared plates after advice from staff and enjoyed the following:

TOASTED SOURDOUGH BREAD & WHIPPED VEGEMITE BUTTER
FRIED BRUSSEL SPROUTS, HUMMUS, FERMENTED CHILLI, & MINT
GRILLED SQUID, MACADAMIA SKORDALIA DIP, FINGER LIME, YOGHURTS, & SALTBUSH
BAKED FENNEL, SHITAKE, EGGPLANT, & CASHEW MILK FROTH
ROASTED POTATO, LABNEH YOGURT, & SALTBUSH DUKKHA

No deserts were needed. Anyway, we had to rush off to a movie at Palace Nova.

Top marks for this Aussie spot for both food, humour and service. One of my best outings in the last 12 months.
