In was long overdue to return to this Thai French Fusion Bar and Restaurant, with a stylish 1950’s theme.

I arrived 30 minutes early so had the place to myself, long before the arrival of the others in our large group. Consequently, I felt it was okay to ask the helpful, long-term staff member (Angus) to turn the music down a little. No problem.

Our party of ten was very well looked after by Angus and others during a long four hour dinner.

The wine list is extensive with a mix of Aussie and French offerings. On spirits, Rue de Siam has a n interesting range of whisk(e)ys and gins.

The menu is also cleverly put together by the Thai owner and his daughter. Some in our multi-cultural group were confused by the use of “aubergine” in dishes. I’m from the UK and as we use the French word for egg plant, that was quickly fixed!

We shared dishes such as Thai Basil Stir Fry, Marinated Beef and Pad Thai Tiger Prawns. No shortage of quality food.

In summary, friendly staff with good food & drinks in a small & stylish restaurant.

Introduced to this Bank St restaurant by a Thai friend. The unusual long narrow street frontage holds a delightful decor with Indo China influence. The food is leaning much more to Thai than French, but the menu has a few French touches. Good cocktails. After 9pm it is a bar for the younger crowd. We have eaten earlier in the evening four time and will return.
