I popped for a Cafe Latte and to read the newspaper.

The indoor space has unacceptably loud music and was of a style not suitable for customers.

My guess is that the music was for the young staff and not their paying customers. A pity.

We were recommended to visit Bark Mill. It seems to be the only newish pub in town.

The seperate dining room was substantially quieter than the front bar. Keno cards in the restaurant was a big surprise though.

We went into the restaurant dining room after 5pm to escape the noise of the front bar. It was quiet with no other diners. By 6pm it was full with 40 + people!

We ordered
– pumpkin risotto
– sweet potato fries
– roast vegetables

All were top quality as was the Stone & Wood on tap.

Until 4pm there is an on-site cafe & bakery plus a rural museum.

In summary, very good quality in an unexpected place.
