The restaurant is closed this Sunday as staff will go to a cricket match! India plays Australia at Bellerive Oval in a 20/20 floodlit game. There are pictures on the walls from 2004 when the Indian team had dinner at Magic Curries. They may be hoping this time around too.

Our quick dinner consisted of:

Mixed Vegetable Pakora
– Eggplant, cauliflower, and potatoes dipped in special chickpea batter & crisp fried. Served with mint. It was disappointing and not well cooked.

Things improved dramatically though…

– Chef’s recommendation Malai Kofta (Mild)
Mashed potatoes, cottage cheese formed into balls, deep fried, cooked in mild gravy.

– Butter Chicken (Mild)
Boneless chicken morsels cooked in a rich creamy tomato based sauce.

Accompagnied by a garlic nan and Paneer Kulcha

My son has eaten here at least 20 times so it must be good.

A favourite restaurant of my son and partner in Battery Point.

Dinner lasted only one hour. As we arrived early, service was very quick. Popadoms and 4 dips were offered to tide us over until main courses arrived 10 minutes later.
We ordered:

– vegetable korma (shared between tow)
– two butter chicken
– Basmatic rice

with sparkling water.

As the restaurant was almost empty and has 4-5 seperate small dinner areas, noise was never an issue.

All meals ordered were good.
