We stopped in just for a drink, it’s a wine bar after all 🍷 but the food menu did look fantastic.

Love that the kitchen was still open at 2pm incase you got distracted wine tasting in the area.

We sat outside because it was a beautiful day ☀️

What we also loved:
✅ Background music at a low volume
✅ Noise-reducing barriers or dividers between tables –
✅ Well spaced tables
✅ Quiet designated areas: enclosed side area away from the main area
✅ Booth seating for better sound isolation
✅ Outdoor seating in a low-noise environment

Very friendly and happy staff, great wine list too

Next time we will try the fantastic menu

Five O’clock Somewhere are owned by the same amazing crew that run the McLaren Flat General Store next door, and this is a team that knows and values quality dining experiences.
While the kitchen is open and on view, the fabrics and textures have been carefully selected to ensure any unnecessary noise is dampened, because the team want you to be able to enjoy your food and your conversation at the same time.
Tables are well spaced, specifically for intimate dining, whether it is with one other or a table of 4-6. Music is played at a low volume, and the staff are highly engaging, coming to have conversations with each party about the food and the wine or beverages of choice. Dishes are made to be shared, which helps to facilitate the experience.
I went with my mum and were able to easily maintain our catch up on a Sunday afternoon with other parties dining at the same time inside.
And the food…. This is slow cooked lamb shoulder and it was perfection.

I want to highly recommend ‘5 o’clock Somewhere’ at McLaren Flat.

I visited with friends and we enjoyed great food and wine: anchovy toast, crab sliders (amazing), mushroom skewers (omg good), red Thai curry croquettes and fried chicken 😋.

The server was lovely too. When we left I complimented the chef in the open kitchen and I noticed a number of other patrons doing the same.

I was seated in a side area which was lovely and quiet (wonderful for my hearing aids) and the rest of the dining space seemed quiet too, despite still having a nice atmosphere. I didn’t request a quiet area deliberately, but loved where we were seated. Inside may be a little noisier. Absolutely recommended for excellent food and service in a quiet side area which you’d need to request.
