I was going for a walk along the marina and accidentally walked into here….. did I do that by accident? Yes….. Was it divine intervention leading to my dinner location that night = yes! I liked what I saw, so I came back.

It’s essentially two linked experiences – the bar at the front, and then the restaurant at the back.

The bar: Trendy, stylish area with happy hour and live music attracting the trendy crowd. It has a good atmosphere and wide drinks selection. The vibe was lively, but not too crazy. If you want to escape the buzz, the open air garden area is quite large so there were lots of quiet parts to escape to.

The restaurant: beautiful, refined and classy. Small seating areas separated by water form a very classy small maze, which you can make your way through and enjoy looking at throughout your time here.

I ate: Spaghetti Vongole | Cloudy Bay clams, white wine, cherry tomato, chilli, garlic, parsley – completely satisfying.

The service: The staff were attentive and polite without being overbearing. Each member of the team made me feel welcome and cared for.

The ambience: Warm and inviting, and it is clear the whole team at Salt House are passionate about providing a fantastic experience for every guest that walks through there. The lighting is dim, but no so dim you cant read the menu. I had no trouble hearing while I was here, even though the restaurant was fully booked on a Tuesday night.

I really enjoyed this dining experience! Although there were a few large groups around, the place is so big and spread out that this wasn’t a problem at all.

STAFF HOT TIP:
The most ambient times are:
Lunch: Mon – Thurs
Dinner: Tues – Weds

Livelier times include:
Thurs – Sunday, with live music from 5pm those evenings.
During peak season in winter, it can be a lot more busy midweek.
Mon night is hospo night from 7, so lively vibes then.

SECRET INFO:
There is another deck at the back that they don’t usually fill as it is reserved for functions usually. If you have a medical reason to request a quiet area (such as hearing loss), call ahead and request this area, they may be able to facilitate this with enough notice.
