Indulge in a hidden gem on Rundle Street. I seriously walked past this place a tonne of times before I discovered it myself!

Curiositeas Tea Room, is nestled discreetly on Level 1 of 240 Rundle Street in Adelaide. Step into a realm of yesteryear where every corner holds treasures of books, vintage plates, tapestries, and charming teapots.

The menu boasts an array of unique tea blends, housemade scones, plant-based seasonal meals, and all-day high tea. Whether you’re craving a leisurely high tea or a quick bite, there’s something to satisfy every palate. Plus, dietary restrictions are graciously accommodated upon request, ensuring that everyone can indulge in the experience.

When planning your visit, keep in mind that Curiositeas Tea Room is open Tuesday through Saturday. Given its popularity, especially on Saturdays, reservations are highly recommended for groups of five or more to secure your spot in this enchanting setting.

I spoke to the lovely Shannika who is the owner here and this place tells her story. Shannika wanted to create a tea room, and deck it out with furniture that reminded her of grandmas farm. Grandma had old cupboards and an old stove, and she always had people dropping in and everyone was welcome. Shanika has recreated that vibe in this cozy and comfortable tea house that makes every guest feel welcome.

While Curiositeas prides itself on its vegan offerings, fear not—milk is readily available for coffee lovers. And let me tell you, the scones are so deliciously crafted that you won’t even notice the absence of dairy!

Keep in mind that Saturdays tend to be bustling, adding to the vibrant energy of the tea room. The intimate setting, with its rustic charm, lends itself to lively conversations, so expect the buzz of chatter to rise as patrons enjoy the old-world charm of this hidden gem.

The music is always at a soft volume so people can relax. If you are interested in a Fringe show, see what is available at Curiosteas. As a Fringe event venue, their shows are also non stimulating to keep in the theme of this nostalgic tea room.

I will be back…. I have been back….. I have added it to my list of places to sit and relax with a cuppa after a stressful work day, or write my notes, or have a meeting. On my visits I’ve noticed people studying here too, Shanika really has encapsulated the vibe of a relaxing country home here.

A beautiful place with an old-timey aesthetic. Couldn’t hear any noise from food preparation. There was classical music playing at a low level. Could hear other diners speaking but only at a low level.

Absolutely gorgeous high tea @curiositeas.au today! A lovely peaceful spot with a relaxing ambience.

Being a tearoom, they have a huge range of amazing teas. Our iced teas were tasty and perfectly refreshing for today’s warm weather 😋

The high tea is super impressive! All the food is plant based and vegan friendly so it is insane how they make the pastries so buttery without using butter! We couldn’t get enough of the savouries, cucumber sandwich, savoury jackfruit tart & asparagus Danish. We were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed the savoury jackfruit as it was our first time trying it! The scones were crumbly and buttery as so satisfying and oh my lord the brownie may possibly be the best brownie we’ve ever had! It had the crispy crust, super rich cocoa flavour and moist centre, there was a hint of saltiness that just elevated the cocoa flavours 😌 Perfectly portioned, where you leave feeling super content, a fantastic experience to share with vegans & non-vegans!

We were also super stoked to find that they stock @aylasprinkles Christmas cookies! They are super cute & addictive! The perfect Christmas gift that everyone including vegans in your life can enjoy 😊
