Vegans, this one is for you! Ambience hunters, this one is for you!

First impression walking in: lovely soft music that fills you with peace as you enter.

As I settled into the cozy seating along the wall, I couldn’t help but notice the serene atmosphere. Two small groups were engrossed in their lunchtime conversations, yet their voices were mere whispers, allowing me to enjoy a peaceful moment.

Friendly staff who helped me decide what to order. I couldn’t decide between the Roast pumpkin Sourdough w beetroot hummus & dukkah, or the Roast mushie sourdough with pesto & dukkah….. So I had both! My pick was the roast mushies, seasoned to perfection.

And oh, the coffee! A true masterpiece in a cup, satisfying my taste buds with each sip.

Mark reached out to me because he aimed to create an ambient space where people could relax, unwind, and want to come back to. There is a warm and inviting atmosphere, attracting a community of regular patrons. It’s the kind of place to sit and chill, allowing you to stay longer, order that extra cup of coffee, and engage in easy conversations. I know this because I witness it myself with one group deciding to stay longer and have that extra coffee and extend their conversation. As Mark was showing me round another regular came in to introduce Mark to her brother. He used to work at the convention centre so he knows about hospitality, and knows how to create a comfortable space to come back to – away from the hustle bustle.

EAR BUD Q TIP
Mark gave me a tour and unveiled their “secret garden” tucked away at the rear of the café. It is cooler in winter as it is outdoors, but they have heaters if you want to sit here. The garden is my pick for the most ambient space if the weather is appropriate. Although it was ambient inside today, if it was full I think conversation would be a challenge due to the acoustics, so the garden is your option if sound sensitive.

They also have a separate meeting room that can be booked ahead (he’s sending me some photos as it wasn’t set up today).

Before leaving, I couldn’t resist indulging in one of their heavenly vegan wagon wheels from the enticing snack fridge. It was an absolute delight, and even my son couldn’t tell it was vegan—a testament to the culinary mastery of Joy of Flora.

So, vegan or not, if you’re after an ambient setting with easy conversation I do recommend Joy of Flora café.
